I am looking to convert my XH 4.0L from slushbox to 5 speed manual. Which model 5 speed should I try to get? I can get a complete EA for a fair price, but I have heard the ED-on T5's are a better box. Whaddya reckon guys?
P.S. I tried the search function, too many replys with nothing relevant in them.

There are differances in the box's after EB with synchro reverse, and bigger gears (except 4th 1:1).
I think my EA box is soo much better than other e-series box's, 1st is very short, i often use 3rd around suburb corners, never use 1st unless your stopped, but if you hate short gears youdd be better off with a later box, 5th can suck a bit, i get 2700rpm@110kph (9l/100 on highway). If you get the ea box, the a weak link is in the 3 bolt clutch arrangement, ditch it for the newer 6bolt, and get a ripshift and your gold. hope it helps, Rushed |

I couldnt see any on the yella terra website, anyone else? Can a 3 bolt flywheel be drilled and tapped for the 6 bolt pressure plate?

EDIT: i dont know wtf happened to the quote! imagine me quoting your last message sooty. ha ha |

i chucked my old 3bolt clutch/wheel out a while ago, but from memory im 99% sure the 6 bolt setup clutch plate has a bigger diamiter.
i just got enough advice that the 3bolt wouldnt take what i was planning to chuck at it, and got a new 6bolt wheel and xr6 spec clutch (i didnt belive the xr clutch would take it) and its lasted ages with many a 3000+rpm launch. |

I have EA t5 3 bolt behind my turbocharged ed.
I rally, I drift and I drag. It held up for a year before it pulled the bolts out of the flywheel. I didn;t realise this till after I bought a new clutch so i just threw another flywheel in. Clutches are sooooooooo cheap for 3 bolts. For N/A a 3 bolt is fine. |
