found a 5 speed gear box at the wreckers in an eb but dont know if it is an ea t5 or notg
looking from under the car up where the shifter goes through the floor i can see borg warner stamped on the box
how else can i tell what kind of t5 it is

look for the roofing Nail on the side of the box

Its a steel pin (looks like a head of a huge nail)

if it it not present, it'll be an XF/EA T5.
With it, it'll be an EB/EF/EL type (the one you want)

Gear ratios, not sure what else.

I much prefer the ratios in the EA box, particulary first gear as it is very short and goes hard.

i think i got the xf/ea box and first goes to 60 flat out maby more but never wanted to trash it THAT hard. and yea gets there fukkin quick eh?? Its a good box.

The XF/EA 5sp box has a 3.50:1 1st gear and the EB to AU/BA 5sp box has a 3.25:1 1st gear, thats for the I6's only.
