i have just put in a 3.45 ratio diff. the person i got it off said it was just rebuilt (new bearings etc etc). i took it for a drive and it seems to be whining. i put some of that Nulon diff tratment in to see if it makes a difference.
is there anything i should check before i take it to a diff place? im guessing that the gears are not set up correctly.

If its rebuilt, the whining might be from misaligned pinnion. So, oil is really not gonna help if its that. Best to take it to a pro, and get them to shim ir properly... Do you know if the pinion was taken out to change the bearings? or for any reason?
Cheers

Apparently the diff centre has to be aligned with shims as well. That's why I was going to take my car to a diff place to get it changed.

Ive taken out my hemisphere before, to stick a minispool in, and put back in, it was fine... same as before. Without aligning the shims or whatever. Maybe got lucky. But when I went to stick 4.11's in, after that it whined like there was no tomorrow, sounded like a bus. And then broke lol. So doing it yourself can be risky, keep that in mind.
Cheers
