Hi all,
Falcon Fairmont AU (2000 model). When the car is cold, there is a noticeable whine/whistling sound coming from the auto gearbox just as it shifts from 1st to 2nd and less so also from 2nd to 3rd. As it warms up it gets less. Suggestions please? |

Firstly, whats the service history of the box? could be many things, I would think either bands, pump or fluid is your culprit though, but until you give us some history on it, the answers are as varied and far flung as possible. there are SO MANY compnents inside the gearbox of magic and mystery that is a BTR, and all of these little f**k can contribute.
Personally, I'd be servicing the nugget first and go from there, or a trans place, open your wallet, spend some coin and get a professional diagnosis, that being said, I6 boxes are a dime a dozen, just get another one and bang it in. For about $250 a box from a wrecker with a bit of warranty you can get a good result.
