i was ringing around on some whiteline springs, i was told by a couple people that they didnt reccomend Whiteline due to the fact they didnt make a spring for an XR8 rather the EF-EL V8 range. And said Kings were a better buy as they make springs for the XR8 range and EF-EL V8? Can anybody shed some light ? Would it matter, i know it sounds silly , as an XR8 qualifies as an EF-EL V8, but i jus5t wnated some professional answers cos these guys in the shops just wana make a sale!

Hrm, not sure if this is true but either way id look t the whiteline; honestly they are a different type of spring; much more cumfortable and controlable.
King certainly does the job, but being cheap usually they can be harsh or bouncy; not to mention many people have had issues with them being quite uneven

Ive used both; very similar car; whiteline $hits all over the kings; sorry to the kings fans out there.

LOL, King fan now nick?

I had kings, they did the job as i said; the whitelines are just so much more comfortable n have a "feel to them more than a really firm gokart stle ride which i was used to..

I will make sure i goto knox and buy a stab vest aye nicko? :D

Only difference between an XR8 and a V8 Optioned Falc or 'mont is it's already lowered suspension, and different alignment specs.
I dunno if you EF-EL guys had different spec upper control arms in the rear for XR's like EBII-ED do. Doesn't matter anyway.
So if you wanted your XR8 lower then it already is, you'd buy whiteline SuperLows, specified for EA-EL V8.
I don't think anyone makes 'XR8' specific springs.
The V8's just have a heavier rate spring in the front end, to compensate for that iron headed, iron blocked lump of Windsor.
Chances are the shops you went to don't stock Whiteline stuff, or just want to make a quick sale cause Whiteline generally have to have springs made up, cause they don't keep a large amount in stock.

I could not agree more... and had the exact same experience!
went from kings to whitelines and never looked back. IMHO a much better spring.

Lovells specify springs for the XR8 and are the best I've used so far. I'm much more happy with them than the Kings.

Well then why have excelent shocks; really good sway bars and entry level springs..?

Not saying King are crap but if your going to spend money on KONI shocks n WHITELINE swaybars lol; for goodness sakes why skimp then extra few $$ on some Good springs?! :P

As I said once before; keep things related n things usually work out; ie:

Entry - cheap, better looks, better handling = Monroe, Kings, Gabriel..etc

Modest - not overly expensive, good looks, handling and comfort = Lovells, KYB, *some* Pedders stuff...etc

All out - pricey, good looks, awesome handling, comfort = Koni, Bilstein, Whiteline, Dobinson...etc

nuff said!

The wait and price of Whiteline gear is WELL worth it. After getting annoyed with the boat like handling of my EL. I went all out and dumped a cool $2,200 on a full Whiteline install (they use specially modified KYB shocks) and I'm very happy. Will use Whiteline again, and take every opportunity to recommend them as well.

But that wait is a killer :(
It's even worse, because ALL my parts are there. EXCEPT for the rear springs

Also Whiteline stuff ain't that dear in the scheme of things.
I'm paying just under a grand for springs, shocks and bars.

I wouldnt go from lovells to kings; going backwards really; look into either dobinson or whiteline for value for money..
Kings sag more than anything else ive used; same with my mates cars with kings; most are going to try whiteline too now, since they arent overly pricey.
