Hey guys (and girls ,
After a little bit of driving in my ED Fairmont I would like to correct my speedo because of the different tyre size (bigger tyre sizes later) and Also the diff I think. First Question, What is the standard Diff ratio in an ED Fairmont? the car currently has an EB LSD 3:27 Ratio. The tyre size is 15 and I know that the standard size is 14. It's out by about 5km's I THINK but because I'm sure the standard diff ratio is different it will be out by maybe abit more. So this is where I need help. Who can work out how many km's my speedo is out? I have all the means and a magazine to help me build one and set it up but really my only query is the diff ratio. Might be a absolute noob question but if someone can comfirm that would be great. Even if someone just posts the standard diff ratio then I can let my dad do the thinking but as most of you guys will have more experience in this than I do then I think it would be best left to someone. Thanks guys, James

If your planning on using a speedo corrector, just use a GPS to set the speedo to read 2-3 km/h faster than your true speed

standard ED rim size is 15" and they also came out with 3.27 ratio so i think you have got nothing to worry about

You can always try the fordmods speedo calculator!

Which models came out with the 3.27 ratio? where they all standard with that ratio?

http://www.fordmods.com/forums/Speedo-Calc-d30.html Just saw that as I posted the last message looks great , I'll save the link to that and I'll come back to that later, its dark now so I think I'll wait abit or ask John_XR6 or SteadyED (2 previous owners of the car) about that speedo wire. Then I'll go from there. Again didn't even realize there was a good calculation thread like that, otherwise I wouldn't have posted lol.

ED had a 3.08 ratio std
EB2 had 3.27 your speedo will be reading 3.27/3.08 times faster (showing 106 @ 100 kmh)

On my car I have turbo blades off a fairmont Ghia, my car is a ED Fairmont. Can someone confirm? and also I'm assuming I can buy the speedo corrector from jaycar as the ED is electronic yeah? or is it like the vn where it appears to be electronic but if you go further inside the car you find that it is cable driven. Thanks for all your help guys, James

turboblades were std on ED fairmont so that wont affect the speedo
it would easier to get the speedo sender from an EB2 and install that into your car....would be cheaper, easier and quicker than the speedo adjuster

have done a small program which will tell you the speed of a car taking in inputs like engine RPM, diff gear, and transmission ratio and wheel size, rim + tyre, but cause Auto's are always slipping to some degree i really can't verify its accuracy with an Auto trans, manual however should be very accurate.
