Hi fellas,

I am contemplating fitting a set of 20's on my EL XR8 the mc racing wheel. Only problem is they do not fit the EL without spacers.

Now I have heard some massive horror stories about these things. So I just wanted to know other people's thoughts.

The car will not be a daily, so it won't be taken out all the time maybe once of twice a week if that.
At this stage I am hoping to keep it all na but worked an maybe a stroker in the future with a supercharger...

Also if a cop pulls me over is it easy to spot the spacers or do the wheels need to be removed? In order to see them?

Cheers in advance

I don't use them, you can easily see them when they are on as well. A highway cop will spot them very easily. I have 19's they are pretty rough on my EL, cant imagine the 20's will ride very well. Im actually going back down to 18x9's with semi slicks.

You could a brake dust shield from an AU to hide the adaptor.

If I end up going ahead with them I will definately do that!

Anyone recommend a special type of spacer which is very good in quality I dont want to want to run any made in china crap if I am running the risk of running spacers

The only recommendation I have is to make sure you use the right size nuts on the studs.

If I end up going down this path I will get it all done from the same mob who fit the tyres to ensure they supply all the correct gear

You're keen. I don't trust that a wheel monkey can do up my wheel nuts properly, let alone notice if the nuts they just picked up fit properly or not.

The only thing I do trust of them is that the wheel nuts WILL be done up too tight to be undone with a wheel brace, and if the the nut goes on cross threaded they will simply crank up the power on the rattle gun.

Any Tyre place that will fit spacers is too dodgy to trust to do it right.

Spacers have a bad name because there are many variables to go wrong. If you use them make certain they are manufactured correctly for your particular car/wheel combo (center bore correct size etc) using the correct grades of alloy and studs. Be very carefull that they are not a multi-fit set to suit toyotas etc as they will fail.

Because of all of these I am still in 2 minds. Can anyone recommend a place that I can go see regarding the spacers that knows what they are doing so things don't go wrong.
