Depends on who you talk to. A couple of people have told me it needs a eng cert and a couple have told me I dont. But to be on the safe side I will be getting it done. Have had a panel beater look over the welding and joining side of things and he reckons it is stronger than original so should have no dramas there.

the IRS part would be VERY interesting to see.
how much better is it over normal ef/el suspension? whats involved in making it fit?

Handling is much better than original, once all bits are sourced it is fairly straight foward to do. Need access to Mig and Oxy gear to do properly

im not 100% sure on this, but you may not be able to get that engineered, supposedly the chassis rails on EA? upwards falcons are heat treated and cant be welded on without weakening them, hence why you cant cut off and weld new ones onto damaged vehicles. i hope im wrong though!

Basically would be the same amount of work to put into any E series. Have not heard of the rails been heat treated so will investigate further.

yea basically i needed some work doing to the engine and the cost of doing it all was going to be dearer than what I ended up paying for the bits from the AU. Car was bought at auction after having gone for a swim Interior suffered the most but luckily the drive line was safe from the water

Not worth it, EF-El lower control arms have one mounting point, AU have 2!
To hard basket why does everyone try to turn there car into something its not!?

hunce why he'd be cutting off and welding on brackets.
Turning a car into something its not is what the whole car modification industry is about!

cause we can.
some people find it challenging and decide to take it on. i could turn around and ask why everyone on this site is trying to turn their family sedan into sports cars. i think having the au offset would be awesome!

Once all the bits were sourced and I had an idea of what was required it was fairly easy to do the front end. Reason it took me so long to do it all was because I also put in the VCT engine(with associated electrics) and IRS and AU front all at the same time. If I didn't have to remove all the bits from the AU front, ie cutting and drilling spot welds would of been a much quicker and easier job. Using new rails from Ford would have save me 2 days work cutting etc.

AND the BIGGEST AND BEST reason......now I have something that most people dont have. An EL with full AU running gear, what I have created is something a little unique and that was one of the motivating factors. Have seen plenty of E series with AU engines taht seem to be running original electrics or completely donored looms, mine is fully intergrated into the EL loom. AU ECU, BCM and IGN switch. Have not seen or read about a E series with AU front suspension. Have heard of the odd car with converted IRS but dont know if it was E series or AU
