pretty sure its something to do with gearboxes imagine doing a hill start in a manuel falcon with a caravan up its a*** bye bye clutch

Yeah, witha big caravan i can imagine it being hard, but with most small trailers (the kind you go to the dump with) it wouldn't be overlly difficult. it must be more to do with the internals or something

if your not towing big a manual is fine but if towing heavy loads its auto.
i think the tow rating for manual is 1200kg and auto 2300 correct me i f im wrong

only reason the manual falcons arent rated as high as the automatics are is purely cos the stock clutch is a pissweak piece of s**t

autos also have coolers where manual dosent

its mainly due to clutch slippage on the manuals, autos work on friction so a cooler is needed.

The ability of torque converters in auto cars to multiply engine torque at low speeds is also a large benefit when carrying extra weight and should not be discounted.

a tow truck , tilt tray or a car trailer,,towing ropes are illegal in nsw..are unsafe

I believe its the same in Victoria, To tow a car you must have a rigid connection between each vehicle, no ropes.

Still see it happening though.

i dunno if its illegal in SA but every1 still does it... autos are heaps nicer to tow with because of the slushy gear changes and smooth take offs so the towee get a steady pull and not jerking/shunting like with manual gear changes

mate its illegal to tow another car with rope in victoria...found out the hard way few years ago
