Hey all, i noticed a while agoe that my ef has king springs but only on the rear?? i no that these arn't stock and it also looks like the back is raised a lil?? would someone of gotten the rear of the car raised? If not why do i have king springs on the back. Also i am planing to get my car lowered any suggestions for springs? super low?

They may have used your car for towing and raised the back a little.

If you were going to lower your car I would suggest Lovells superlow springs. If your on a budget then also get some Monroe GT gas shocks to suit the superlow springs. If you have money to burn then get Bilstein shocks.

Yea that might have been it because i do have a toe bar, would the back being raised make the car not handle as good as if it were level. and when u get your car lowered does it improve handling alot?

It does because your centre of gravity is closer to the ground so you dont get as much body roll. Also when you get it lowered you will have new shocks/springs which helps as well obviously.

When I got my EF lowered I put in Monroe GT gas shocks and King Springs superlows. It handled better than new. I was very happy with it.

It is also highly recommended that you get a camber kit installed as well. Lowering the car will affect the camber of the wheels and may cause excessive wear on your tyres.

It cost me $1120 if I recall to get a camber kit, new shocks and superlow springs all round including wheel alignment.

Your car will feel like a million dollars.

shiz i wasnt expecting to pay that much to get it lowered.... hmmm I might have to put it on the back burner for a while.I am getting my cat back lukley sytem on wednesday CANT WAIT!!. Also Will i have more body roll at the moment as the back is raised??

Yes slightly more although you probably wont notice it from standard height.

I think you can get it lowered by only getting springs in which case it doesnt cost much, probably only $400 but I dont know what it does to the shocks because they are set to a specific height and having them compressed by using lower springs may effect how they work. Someone else should be able to clarify this.

The rear springs are most probably heavy duty standard height springs. This means the vehicle can support more weight over the rear axle, ie for the use of towing a heavy trailer.

Lowering the vehicle will assist in handling to a certain degree. The addition or larger diameter (and hence stiffer) swaybars (anti-roll bars) will improve the vehicles handling far more than that of lowering the vehicle.

If you lower the vehicle excessively then the vehicle will not corner smoothly, it will bounce around and you will loose traction (not from excessive throttle, but from the tyres skipping across the road surface).

If you want it to look good, dump it, if you want it to handle lower it with the proper gear.

hmm well i think i should do something cause at the moment it looks weird the back sits up alot, i think it would look alot better level. what should i do? would i be better of getting a new set of 4 lowered springs rather than just getting the back lowered a lil

I would go the 4 lowered springs.

As south said you can also do sway bars too but thats if you drive around corners at higher speeds or you do track days. Generally you do want a little bit of body roll for normal driving and if you do racing and want stiffness to the max get a larger sway bar as well.

ok, well nearly every time i go around a round-a-bout my wheels do a lil screech do you think this is because my back is raised?? ( i do drive pretty fast around them but)

Every person who lowers there car should upgrade their swaybars at the same time... I highly recommend the extra $500 (fitted). I have still got a slight roll in the rear and would hate to think what it would be like with standard swaybars, I would need a grab handle on the A pillar so as i not fall out of my seat :P

You can lower your car without doing the shocks, but understand it will be very bouncy and you will more than likely hit the bumpstops on large dips in the road (where your car lifts and then settles down again, you will lift and come bouncing down)

I have never been recommended to upgrade swaybars at the same time. I've told to not bother unless your a suspension nut and what next to no roll.

I dont think you really need it.

i put a 27mm swaybar on my xe ute, and she keeps spitting out the new nolathane bushes.
i also replaced the bushes in my ef's swaybar, and it's popped 2.
not sure why, but i can say the swaybar does help in the ute bigtime.
