Nope it went straight in, you may have to use your original speedo gear though.
So your speedo is ready right.

i have an EL 4 speed in my EA. everything bolted straight up no issues. my mate just put an EB in his AU fairlane (blackers10) he swapped the bellhousing but you dont need to. there is only an extra 2 bolts under the sump to the box. but inside the bellhousing EA-EL have 4 bolts, AU has 9 but can still be swapped.

oh yeah!!! way better. mine shifts smoother (altho the EF and EL you cant adjust the bands) and the gear selection is way smoother. my old EA box you used to have to yank into D. now it glides in. its beautiful.

depends whats wrong with it. there is a certain amount you can adjust them to before they snap. but id give it a go first just incase. if you snap the bands you simply install the EF box

hmm.. you might find the box is running too hot. do you have a tranny cooler? we done this to my mates NA fairlane when he got my old EA box as mine has got a top of the range factory fitted tranny cooler and when it went to his car he had the same issues, so he fitted the cooler and most of the issues went
