Im thinking about turboing my EL XR6 auto, I'm hoping for around 300kw at the wheels. I would like to know if a standard auto would hold up on this. What can I do to muscle up my auto.

for about 2 minutes maybe... keep it under 3000rpm u might have a slight chance..

so in short no it wont.. the standard auto is usually good for about 200rwkw.. even then if it lives or dies is a gamble. some last awhile, some dont depending on the condition.. so you wouldnt want to run more than 200rwkw though the standard auto really.

sorry mate but youve got no chance there. ive been in cars that are running just over 200rwkw and when they punch it the clutch just spins and theres no contact at all.

i think some co. called Malwood does a decent clutch for high power applications

300rwkw is beyond it.
you'd need some strengthening work done.

Who are you looking at to do the work? or doing it your self?

Yeah mate no way will the stok box last...you'd have to spend abit to strengthen it......what sorta money would you be willing to sacrifice for a good transmission setup that will last ?

The big manual setup from Malwood automotive thats in PYROAY is holding over 400rwkw fine and is a pretty top of the line setup but is roughly 8K+ thats clutch flywheel gearbox everything.

Give us an idea of your budget and we can help out abit more

I had a standard T5 manual from facory (no auto) it lasted till about 200rwkw then gave up.

Then T5 "Z" spec which is rated to hold mid 200rwkw. It lasted with 300rwkw but didn;t like 400rwkw.

Now T56 which is holding up nicely.

Over $9k though + labour to fit unless you do it yourself (which i pretty much did)

if i spend that much money on motor, transmission, diff, and turbo setup, i'd wanna be able to give it heaps without it giving up thats for sure!!!

But you wouldnt have to give a 407rwkw car 'heaps' to go fast i wouldnt think, or to lose traction for that matter
