Just a quick question
Will mags off a 1970 Fairlane fit an E-series? I am pretty sure they have the same PCD 5 x 114.3 = 5 x 4.5" (Falcons, XR onwards) Just not sure on hub width is universal with e-series I have found out so far Quote: 1/. Ford XW-XB 62mm (some XB's had the XC spigot size)
2/. Ford XC-EL & maybe later 70.5mm There was a change in rotor offset introduced with the EA 3/. Valiant/Centura 72mm Can anyone be more definitive if a '70 Fairlane has the same size hub/spigot as E-series? cheers Barnsy

They should fit ok.
but why???? you can get 15" EA mags for very cheap. I have some I got for free from an ea fairlane. I also have a set of XC ghia mags I am putting on my trailer. I will see if one will fit the EF.

15 icnh rims run VERY close to the rear brake calipers on an EF/EL, and in some cases will touch/bindup.
15" twelve slotters have about 1mm clearance.

All efs came out with 15" rims. I had CSA rims on my car for ages, it never looked even remotely close to touching!
You should be fine. I think they carried the same size all the way from X series to EL

I was going to say : You can run them, however the earlier cars had smaller brakes etc, and rim clearance was less of an issue. I had trouble with some XC series rims on an XD. it only got worse after that

As long as they 15"+ and XB s2 on they will fit.
Pre XB s2 are not hub locating wheels and may have a smaller centre bore hole.

The earlier falcons from mid 70's back had a smaller hub so even though the stud pattern and offset is unchanged early rims wont fit due to the centre hole for the hub being too small

Yeah 69/70 was the change over for these, as i found out in my earlier years doing a "quick" disc upgrade before a night out with the missus bolted ZH / XC discs on my 69 ZB fairlane only to find the wheels didn't fit! some makeshift grinding of wheel centre and off we went! eventually - she hasn't got over it she married me to make my life hell - lol

I've been running 12 slotters [continuously] from about that time frame without any problems.
Cheers, Mac

Whats the absolute ultimate size to run on an E-Car. My EF came with 15's. They say 18/19's are too big and degrade ride quality. So would that make 16's the best all round for ride quality. And would I notice a difference swapping my 15's for 16" XR6FTR's????

Of course 14" is ok on a EA to ED. The 15mm rule is to do with the rolling radius of the tyre. Rim diameters come under a different rule.
