Hi All

Pretty much as the topic states I'm toying with the idea of upgrading diff gears in my Na Ba xr6 to 3.7s. It's currently got intake and full exhaust. I'm planning on getting a tune now as I want a bit more power but tossing up a diff upgrade too, I'm not really interested in spending the bucks for an lsd if I don't need it so my question is will an open diff with 3.7s be enough grip for a fairly stock Na xr6 with a tune. It's only street driven on weekends so not a daily anymore and I don't race or anything all tho I'd like to give whoop a** Wednesday a crack.

Pretty much this bit of power upgrade is to keep me happy for the next 18 months until I can afford more I'll be deciding between upgrading to a gs or supercharging this or turbo engine swap but that's a long way away and a lot of variables atm so setting my sites on short term atm.

cheers.

Try and find a typhoon manual diff if possible. They are 3.7 geared, lsd and stronger than the n/a diff.

Ok, I'll keep an eye out but I don't like my chances of finding one :P. I don't know if it really need the extra strength anyway because I'd probably be lucky to get 169kw at the wheels, but then again I could be wrong because I usually am.

If your going turbo in the future it would be worth it to just upgrade now and be done with it.

That's all well and good if I could afford it.. It's what I would be doing but I can't

Gonna rephrase my question after more thought,

Can a xr6 open diff with 3.7 gears have enough grip to handle 160 - 170rwkw.
