Most likely from a Fairlane.
The LWB cars had swaybars.

Hi. I had an XC 4 door. it had a sway bar rear end. whilst owning it I looked at dozens of other similar models. I never saw another with a sway bar. Their is a GS model in town also. I am keen to take a look under it in the futer to see if it has one.

I have tried to add photos but it wont allow me to as the file size is too big.
And i have noticed that the drum covers are for large center not small and the diff looks to have never been removed from the car so i beleave that it has had the XB Axels fitted.

Also the numbers on the tag on the diff say 78DA-4005-BA
Ratio 2.92 SER NO 2873
Does anyone know if the number 78 in the first code identify the year the diff?

If it is a 78DA then it wasn't from an XB.

78DA is late XC...76DA would be the start of XC.
All XD sedans had rear sway bars.....last of the leaf rear sedans....XE went to Watts Link, except for utes, vans & wagons.

Im guessing that it is original as i dosent look like it hase ever been removed from the car but i will never know as the previous owner used it for spare parts and had it sitting on a padock for more than 10 years
