can anyone tell me if an xf diff will fit into an el, my current diff is not well and its to be rebuilt but I hav a heavy duty xf limo with similar gear and a tailshaft the measures up for the task to be used for a couple of weeks till the original is fixed

if you have the tailshaft from an XF/EA, and if the driveshafts are the same size... then you're fine.. you can't use your old tailshaft with the XF gears because EB+ used a 4 bolt "plate" to bring the driveshaft and diff together.. where as the XF/EA ones used the U brackets, with 2 bolts.
The only other differences I remember are the XF watts link, and the brakes.. hand brake cable need to be adjusted... and XF brakes need to be used on an XF axel, due to different sizes... But if it's temporary it'll be fine. Cheers and good luck

just remember to uunbolt everything, and have the diff on a jack.. the things weigh a s**t. Disconnect the swaybar, trailing arms, handbrake, brake lines... um...watt's link (XF)... and the driveshaft.
also remember to bleed your brakes once the XF diff is in. And don't forget the handbrake cable Cheers
