Hey guys, I have a 1999 XH II, had it for about 8 months, and in that time we've had 3 clutch cables in it, and it's looking like the fourth is going to be required any day!
It snaps (well, the last one actually looked like the spigot just pulled off the end) at the clutch end, not the pedal or firewall. It's currently adjusted just about as far out as it can go. I've found a couple of guys on here who've mentioned it's common, but not really any explanation of why it happens, or how to fix it. The clutch has always been really heavy... we think it's a heavy duty clutch... but it seems to be overly heavy, partucularly compared to the xg we have. I don't drive it hard, I use it to commute, and long distance travel... so I really need to find a solution that doesn't include taking half a workshop of tools to replace the clutch cable every few weeks. Any help appreciated... also, if anyone knows a good clutch/transmission place in Adelaide who might be able to sort out the problems. Thanks |
