How is the handbrake adjusted on a XH ute? Do you have to take the rear discs off or can it be adjusted from the cable? Thanks for the help

Cable - same as EA/EB/ED.
If you've replaced rear pads, you'll need to reset the rear caliper pistons.

A good quality c or g clamp with do they trick. Just wind the clamp up and the piston should compress

That works on the front calipers, but the rear ones on my ute had to be pushed/threaded back using a special tool/socket. Have a look in the Gregory's service book, it shows how to do it properly. The tool/socket is available from Repco or SuperCrap.
I would get a gregorys/haynes book first and go from there.
Good luck. :D
