Hi guys, I'm a little confused now.
I've swapped the auto out of my XHII XR8 ute for a T5 I bought on ebay that I'm told came out of an AU Falcon. I bought a new clutch and flywheel (157 tooth and 10.5" clutch) which are the same size that came with the gearbox. I've bolted everything up and the car doesn't crank over, even after making all the wiring adjustments with resistors and shorts described elsewhere on this site by banarcus. I'm now wondering if a low hum I heard was the starter spinning, but unfortunately my battery went flat before I could confirm this. I'm now suspecting I may have the wrong starter (I'm using the XH auto starter), but I'm told that AU's have the same starter on autos and manuals so I'm guessing XH's do too. When I happened to place the original flywheel on top of the driveplate, I noticed the driveplate is larger at 164 tooth. I'm wondering if I should have a 164 tooth flywheel instead. I'm finding conflicting information and nobody I ask seems to know for sure. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |
