Hey guys,

I've noticed that I have to top my brake fluid up once every 2-3 weeks however on the weekend I found it was down more than usual. Degreased the area around it and checked it again today and I can confirm that it's leaking between the booster and master cylinder, nothing major but enough to warrant a fix sooner rather then later.

I have two questions:

1) Will this just be a gasket in between the master cylinder and brake booster or will the master cylinder be stuffed internally?

Regardless, I'd like to replace the master cylinder as its the original 300K km one which leads me to my main question...

2) Is an EB XR6 master cylinder different to a normal falcon master cylinder?

I presumed it wasn't, however searching ebay I found this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-falcon- ... 457wt_1037
Basically saying all except EB XR6 and the ED equivalents which left me puzzled... :?

Apologies if this has been covered before but I have searched.
Help is much appreciated
Cheers, Luke

1) The master cylinder is stuffed internally

2) The master cylinder will be exactly the same as a normal falcon.

Yeah Bry is correct, I found out that the V8 master cyl was different to the 6cyl AFTER I did my V8 conversion, my brakes still work fine.

I have one on the EB parts cars if you want to come and collect. 4 pack of JD and coke bottles will do for payment. If you interested that is.

It'll most likely be the O ring in the rear piston.
Pop the primary/secondary piston out inspect it and it's cups, check the bore, and replace the O ring.
If that's all okay, should be fine to refit. Main things to look out for is bore scuffing, piston scuffing, cup damage/distortion, etc.

Grab a ford manual to read up - it's not too hard, and normal care/cleanliness as far as brake parts go of course, touch of brake fluid on seals, etc.
The only special tool you'll need is a circlip pliers.

If you use Dave's, make sure it's a sedan mast cyl.

It is a sedan one, but he has told me he will pass on it and get a new one. Working with an knowen entity is paramount when the braking system is involved.

What the f**k??????
A Fordmods member with an E series spending some cash , doing something properly and making a good job of it instead of doing it the dodgiest , cheapest way possible entirely with secondhand parts!!
Im speechless.

Absolutely - I wouldn't be fitting it without having a look internally - particularly if it's been sitting out of the car for a long time. Provided the bore wear, etc is not significant, a seal kit is not hard to fit also - provided he takes his time and does it properly.

Hardest part is probably getting it approved by the New Parts Nazi.

Thanks for all the info guys!
Will have a read up about it tonight and might give it a crack on the weekend if it seems easy enough...

Well if you do have a mast cyl that you'll ditch - by all means read up and dismantle it, it will give you some insight and experience on how it works - fast fill, proportioning valve, etc.
