alright, so about a year ago i got my 19" BF Typhoon wheels put on.

one day it started fading to the left, just a fraction.
i thought it's normal as most cars go to the left a little.

then it started to get sharper and sharper to the left.
so i went and had a wheel alignment done.
SAME problem as soon as i drove off.

i recently took it to get fixed.

got a new steering pump, the steering rack was fine, and a casing needed replacing in some part of the steering.
cost me a fair bit to get fixed.

drove it off, SAME problem. just as sharp.

we found that my car had a -3degree camber, but no camber kit on it?
is this signs of a dodgy person putting my wheels on?
we also found the distance between the back and front wheels on the right hand side is 3mm longer.
(which could explain why it goes to the left)

i've just bought a KMAC self adjustable camber/caster kit.
putting it on next week and having another wheel alignment.

should this solve the problem?

Cheers guys.
Hope you can have some imput.

def a wheel alignment problem to me

what they should have done is rotated teh wheels from front to back

as witha bad wheel alignment the tyres wear and even if the wheel allingment is corrected it can still cause problems

yeah thanks guys.

i've had it wheel aligned and even had the steering pump replaced.
wasted cash on it that didn't even solve the problem!

i'm putting the camber kit on the front, raising it with new springs, and ill definatelly give rotating the wheels + another alignment after camber a go.

check rear trailing arm bushes too, they can cause the diff to walk (so to speak)

eg accelate car steers right - decelerate car steers left

happened alot on 6cyl cortinas and could explain 3mm difference

Also make sure you get a decent alignment done. some place just go edge to edge on the front wheels while others actual use the rear wheels as a datum point and align the front to the rear.

If the wheel alignment didnt fix it I wouldnt have paid. My mat e took his car into a susp joint and told them it pulled left, they took it for a short drive and said yep wheel alignment will fix it.
wheel alignment done - same problem - didnt pay.

3mm difference in wheelbase side to side isn't much really, not that i've measured this before. It could easily happen due to natural variations that occur and are within tolerance. Release the handbrake and measure again!

Regarding the camber, 3deg is pretty obvious, wasn't that sorted in the initial wheel alignment? Camber creates sideways thrust, that's why it's important for it to be the same or similar (to correct for road camber) on each side. When you brake there is weight transfer to the front and this increases the sideways thrust.

the original wheel alignment i got done did nothing!

do you think i should put a camber kit on, then raise it?

or just raise the front with some new springs and get another wheel alignment done?
and make sure this time it gets done properly?

how do you get a -3degree camber with no camber kit?
it's got me confused.

ive got a camber kit at home, but if im raising it.. will i need it?

You need to decide on the height first, and do it, and fix any other problems, then get a wheel alignment. If you are considering returning the camber kit, perhaps you could leave it with the wheel aligner telling him to use it only if need be.

You can get -3deg of camber from worn bushes and/or ball joints, from a hit, or possibly even just normal warping of the chassis over time. Chassis's get a workout, in fact they never really get a rest.
