Has anyone actually got a Auto with Hi Stall with a fully manualised value body shift kit in their Falcon? Would love to see a pic or better yet a vid...
Anyway, what are you guys' opinions on the 2? Auto with the works vs Manual T5? Which is better at what and why and overall what would you prefer? Cost of both compared on a quality basis, etc, etc anything you guys can think of about comparing the 2, let's hear it!

I'm sure that I'm not the only one who will say this...... Press the Search Button. Don't mean to be blunt but the Auto vs Manual debate is getting very old.

No such thing as a manualised valve body for a BTR.
What are the goals, what work has the car had done, what work is it going to have done.

the manual has an additional gear.
a big downside with the high stall in the auto is they'll get really hot if you do stuff like towing long distances etc, as teh torque converter doesn't lock at cruising speed. |

Ya know there is something F'ed up with the Search function on this forum! It doesnt search for the word you put in in the topic title just for the word in the post body. Whattt
Thanks for responces guys, although HiStall would be good for drags, it seems that the fun factor and in some cases damage factor out weighs auto + histall in favour of a manual trans.

For street duties, go a manual, for drag duties, it is hard to beat a built auto

So your opinions on what is better is that histal auto will flog down the drag street but for a car that is not solely for draging in a straight line down a track, a manual is the way to go.
tickford I searched. The car's purpose is to go fast and be fun, not to go in a straight line only on the weekends. There is a correct answer to which is better. Opinions from drivers are usually the bets way to find out. The search function is ghey, yes it works, but it would be alot more accuratly with an option that searchs for the keyword in the title. How many people are refering to a BA Falcon when they have EF in the title?

(you didn't) and even then you need to drive cars fitted with each option. the search function is not gay. (learn to spell) you just need to use it properly. 5 mins found these. all have info realating to your question. don't be lazzy, spend an half an hour looking through old threads. and why just search for EF? EA through to AU all run the same auto. so do 4spd auto BAs and BFs. and guess what. they all use T5s for a 5 speed manual box http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... ual%20auto http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... ual%20auto http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... t%20kitted http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... hift%20kit http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... g%20racing |

High stall and a stronger box is the way to go will out last any T5. mine is a daily driver and goes sweet. and the box only gets hot when you play with the stall to much non stop.

See I'm trying to figure out the end product for my car. Whether I should have put that in the original post is IMO irrelevant. I want peoples opinions on what they think is better and why they think it's better and (if they have any and it's comparable) their experience with either.

It really sounds like you don't get it still. tickford_6 is spot on the money. which is best directly depends on the situation, neither option is better than the other in each and every scenario, has to be judged on a case by case example, in order to do that information is required about the car, what the end goal is, what the car is to be used for etc. e.g. as I said above the high stall torque converters are generally no good for anyone towing long distances (I have seen some really expensive ones for other vehicles with locking carbon clutches for overdrive and what not, but havn't seen such for our Falcoons), if you fall into the category, then straight away it would have eliminated that option for you. There's also your personal wants to consider - e.g. manuals are more fun to drive (IMO), but autos are great for when your lazy. |

thats the problem i think. He has no idea what he really wants. He only seems to want it if every one els thinks it's good or cool to have. If he had half a clue, this thread would have been about 8 posts shorter. but instead of providing the info we need to give him a good answer, he just argues that he shouldn't have to. |
