Yeah same codes prity much. im a mechanic so i scaned it my self codes like gear 4 incorrect ratio (slipped) ect... im thinking it to be somthing electrical to fail 4 boxes in 3 months the car has made 208rwkw since 20,000km and the first box went at 60,000km????? just after i got the new cat fitted
i know a few people with zf g6's that are supercharged and make 250rwkw and god knows how much torque and had no drama's at all and there done 150,000km...

You say your a mechanic, yet you come on here asking these questions? I say leave it auto but change your driving style. 208KW is jack for a ZF box.

I am starting to think its the driver not the box that is the issue here. either your tune is bad or your driving style is.
There are other pedals than the accelerator. Also, I know these boxes like to down shift by themselves. Are you using the tiptronic stuff much? Dunno Brad, it could also be a VERY VERY bad batch, but I doubt it. I would say its yourself killing these boxes. Your gonna have to give some detail as to how they are dying and what you are doing both at the time they die and leading up to the death. You have pointed and laid blame squarely on the box, I am suggesting there is something more going on. As Heath suggests, 208KW is nothing for these boxes. I've witnessed plenty more being put through them for a much longer period. A questionable tune will kill them though. get yours looked at and cleaned up if necessary.

how can it be the driver? the 1st box lasted 60,000km of utermost abuse the last few have been driven normaly till they went pop! im looking for a manual converson kit for it if it's cost effective i'l convert it if not she's getting sold as a stock car and i'l buy a manual turbo or xr8.

This. 100% Mine's lasted 170,000ks of hard driving, track time, drag passes (over 50), with ~300rwkw, and ~650nm. Daily driver til only last month. Another club member has a ~450rwkw F6 and god knows how much torque (1000+ easy), daily driver, no problems. They're tough, reliable boxes. Something is wrong, and it's not the 5 boxes you've been though. Are you (OP) running the herrod ZF tune? I was "test guniea pig" for them, ended up smashing 3 diffs, not the box. I'd recommend NOT running the ZF tune, makes them far too harsh.

i have the zf tune and its awesome on my bf, they have a problem with big power when changing into the top gears (4,5,6) where the tcm picks the wrong program, (there are 6 programs i think, each program has like 9 different maps) when the wrong program is picked by the tcm for some reason it usually selects neautral then second and then box doesn't love life anymore. I have manual mode and performance mode tuned, standard D is standard tune, my tuner advised me that if i, gonna give it some in higher gears always make sure its in performance. when he's tuned all the other maps for each program on his 400+awkw terrirory he's gonna flash it into my car, it would take way too long trying to tune them all on my car.

I'd really like to know where he works so I know not to take my car there... I'm backing the driver theory aswell. There is no other realistic Answer...

are the ZF6's in the NA6 the same as the turbo ZF6?

Everyone keep's raving about ZF tune and chirp's 2nd and 3rd gear when there on it, but chirping means hard shifting which is not exactly a good thing...
My C10 was the same spec as a 1000hp blown capri and didnt chirp gears... same as all the other big engine's car with auto's behind them...

that may be why his ZF6 is crapping it self. It's one of the most powerful NA ZF6's...

The weakest ZF box is still more than capable of those specs, I suspect the ZF tune put in to it is crap, and or driver problems. I treat mine hard (circuit racing, full bore drag racing), and the only trouble I've had is it overheated after 20 laps at Wakefield Park on a 40C summers day. Parked it for 40 mins (two other sessions went out), then went back out for my session again, no problems.
