Hi, can anyone tell me if there are any issues with the zf 6sp auto. Am considering installing a 5.4 and auto into a cobra replicar that I'm about to start building for myself and the cook, so a heads up BEFORE I start would be much appreciated :P

They're pretty darn tough. Some serious Typhoons and such running them. And they CAN be built stronger (but it's uber $)

Only problem I'd see, is they required a lot of electronics to run, maybe a downside if you're trying to build a custom car (or do you mean a BF Cobra replica, not like a AC cobra replica?)

got a 6 speed myself!

DATA_MINE has covered my thoughts! Tough box, big bucks to strengthen if ya need to but not really needed and very reliant on electronics!

Other foot note i might add is they very pricey!

Important to note if your buying a kit
You need every module from that matching car with the ZF!
Bem, ECU etc

As the trans is pre configured from the factory for that specific car.
Speak to FTG auto salvage - Darren would be teh best person in the industry to supply a complete kit.
They have experience with doing conversions etc. One of Darrens mates has actually done the BA GT motor and trans into a Cobra kit car

Yeah have a chat to darren @ FTG
they are the specialist s for this sort of stuff, they probably are the mnost knowledgeable wrecker in the country when it comes to late model fords.

He will know what modules you will need with it to get it running.
