The clue is in those two little holes on either side. You have to insert a screwdriver there in just the right way to detent a clip at either side. It's not easy. I did it in the bright daylight and at times was able to separate the casing enough to get light in there to know where to put the screwdriver head.

I use the first kind (but with a less tall button).

The immediate action is what you want.

The buttons on the factory switches have spring-loading in them. There's no springs anywhere else. I thought it might be useful to adopt the 'spring is in the switch' approach for the flappy paddles as well.

Have you had any success pulling your switches apart eboost? I'd be curious to see someone's efforts on this. I have a few other things lined up to complete first before I'd get to this (CarPC, Mirror Indicators) and have a 3-week hobby-work hiatus coming up, and besides, I'd be relying on DM doing a 4A version of it before I could entertain the idea.

Im in the process of making new boards to suit el cruise. If anyone wants one let me know so i can make a couple while im at it. The boards im making will replace the factory ones and sit in the housing like the original one.

I got a package in the mail today (finally).

What proggie did you use to design the PCB? It seems the auto-routing did not work that well, and very many sharp bends/points in the tracks...

I use Eagle for schematic and PCB design.

The autorouter use 45° bends, it's all good. And as this is an entirely DC circuit, nothing to worry about in regards to trace accuracy/length/reflections/etc.

I’ve been looking at doing the same thing with my BF XR8 ZF 6 speed but I’m not as electrically minded as data_mine ( well dune ) but I have made some custom components for my XR8.

I’m thinking of using a set of these Bell Paddle Shifter NEO Kit Paddle shifter

And ill cut or modify the center of them and mount them to the inside of the steering wheel column.
or use the steering wheel set up similar to data_mine

So I’m very very interested in buying a interface unit when there all ready to rock and roll.

I'm still mulling over adding something to the existing cruise/stereo button units.

True it's not the best way of doing it as I’m on a budget, but I do like the look of the paddles.

I think the existing cruise/stereo button units will look and function grate to.

I’m going to have a look today and go tinker in my man cave (as my partner calls it) and see if I cant come up with something along that line of a set of paddles on the cruise/stereo button units to give a helping hand with this process.

I’ve had a look at my XR steering wheel and column and after many cardboard cutouts and mental imaging I’ve come to the conclusion that having a set of floppy paddles on my steering wheel or column is a no go.

And having a set of paddles on the volume/cruise controls is a good idea from Lukeyson but it just didn’t suit my driving style, as some of the time I may turn a corner with my right hand (turning right) grabbing the left hand side of the wheel with my thump on the inside of the wheel to turn the corner and the cardboard cut out I had in place of the paddle just got in the way.

I know it’s not the proper or safe way to drive but we all have a set of bad habits that we do behind the wheel.

So trying to make the paddles the way I would like them to look and operate would just get very frustrating and buying a set of paddles is out of my budget.

So I think I’m going to go with a set of buttons on the wheel so I can shift up & down and mount them in the horn/airbag center housing around the same place as data_mine mounted his under the silver tabs on his FPV wheel.

I’m going to counter sink them into the horn/air bag housing as mounting them into the cover may be a bad idea as if the airbag go’s off peaces of button and wiring may fly around every where. So by counter sinking them and mounting them into the wheel them self. Now if the airbag go’s off the buttons will stay in there position in the wheel.

So on the other hand how’s the ZF’s interface coming along.
