is there any advantage to running one?, what would be the best way to install it? |

Advantage - extra cooling and direct cooling of the oil. Instead of the coolant cooling the block which I assume in turn cools the oil (by the oil transferring it's heat to the block), the engine oil cooler cools the oil directly. I fitted a B&M chrome one when I installed the supercharger and intercooler. I use a Speco oil filter block mount thingo (basically goes where the oil filter goes and provides an oil line in and out and the oil filter fits onto it), then I got 2 hoses made up to suit from Enzed (most expensive part, but the particular hose I got was highly recommended by them and a few independent people, so I'd rather pay the extra and hopefully avoid future problems). Been there for a good 12 months now no dramas. |

i think a set of trans and oil lines run through the radiator? this gives them a limited form of cooling already. more just a temperature stabilisation thing i think

Pretty sure that the question he is asking is in regards to engine oil coolers - as he's talking about rebuilt engine and it's posted in the engine section. |

I ran an 8 pass engine oil cooler on my Valiant for about 7 yrs and had no probs. The tube sizing was 1/2", and had JIC fittings. I ran Penrite HPR 15 ( 15W60 ) engine oil.

I'd like to get one going on my XR6T. Do the speco adapters really work like that? How does the oil go out one outlet and in the other, just from the pumping action of the oil pump?
