sorry this has probably been discussed but i am bout to go to work and haven,t got time to look but i was just wondering if a 2002 gearbox would fit straight into a 95 fairmont any help will be much apprieciated thanks

AU automatic will fit into an E-series falcon if you swap over the e-series bellhousing. BA auto wont work.

sorry i forgot to add, the AU auto will fit into EA-EL falcons if you use the EF/EL bellhousing. The early eseries have a different bellhousing that wont bolt up to the AU autobox as the EF/EL/AU use a 93LE auto

the au series gearbox has a 40mm difference either in total length or shifter position. I cant remember exactly. pretty sure e series guys who have au boxes have to modify the hole that the shifter comes through. again cant be sure, but this may mean a different tailshaft length also.

yep, theres issues with swapping manual boxes over.
but auto is supposed to be a straight swapover if you use the ef/el bellhousing |
