sorry i didn't explain, initial traction. and yes lateral roll can be handled the same way.
and i only speak from stock irs experience with moderate live axle experience. so no pro.

ok yes i retract the terminology. i mean for doing cheap conversions engineering wise, ie: structual changes powertrain conversions. theres just a bigger cheaper variety of items you could mix n match to make an awsome street or moreso track car.

ah I see...I thought you were bagging out on ford stuff in favour of ricey cars - i agree that once you get past the blingy crap thats so prelavent since that bloody movie, there are some really good bits n pieces out there in the jap stuff; a guy at work here has a Cefiro (kinda big 90's jap 4 dr taxi) - goes like the hammers but totally blends in with traffic. Not really my cuppa but I can cope with that alot more than F & F style crap.

F & F is pretty unrealistic anyway, geared up rice burners with everything but a flux capacitor...
i mean more along the lines of a 2jz in a grandpa spec cressida, gtir awd running gear in old fwd pulsars etc. and on the other side of the coin theres the geminis n dattos with sr20 turbos n rotories. having said that though, i'm all for awsome conversions that are against the grain, like 351 windors in minnis etc. i almost bar up over a good conversion, it's a good feat of engineering. should start a seperate modifications forum for conversions & reworks like different length trailing arms on the live axle 4 link e series etc. put all the pre b series vct & twin cam xr6 turb conversions in there and the likes, would be an awsome forum. and just for the record i wasn't comparing fords to rice burners as cars, just in ease of modification. it's impossible to compare australian made cars to rice burners coz it's just a different category, hence why you don't see a mixed grill in the australian touring car championship anymore. bring it back i say ! and i want to see more unrestricted sports sedans becoming more prominent.

yeh, the 2jz in the cressdia rings a bell - do you read Zoom magazine at all, cos they featured a car with this very setup...if you don't read it , you should - all sorts of `sacreligious' engine swaps - toyota V8's in Falcons and Commodores and all manner of other weirdness....http://www.zoommagazine.com.au/ is their website but not much detail compared to the paper magazine...

They don't get much air time - watch Speed Week on SBS. The other bonus is some of the categories are actually affordable to enter.

i do watch it on sbs when i can thats the only place i've seen it, and not often enough, thats what provoked the comment.
affordable you say ? i think the hard part from boy racer to real racer is the transition, theres not enough information bout off street racing as there should be. would knock a fair bit off the road toll if they made off street racing more accessible imho, insurance usually foils it though.

Affordable is relative. Motorsport isn't cheap, but you don't need v8sc money to go racing.
You can get into Saloon Car racing with a 6 banger EA. The Aussie Cars start new from about $40k
