I have just purchased a BA Ford Futura Wagon.
And would like to fit a transmission oil cooler and bypass the radiator as i have heard about problems where the cooler inside the radiator has broken and water has gone into the transmission oil and caused problems. Has anyone installed a cooler to there BA and is it a straight forward job?

it is provided you have basic mechanic + motor skills, do you ?

l work as a Fitter in machine maintenance.
l have just bought this BA and it has a full service history from a ford dealer ship in Melbourne and there is no paper work showing that the transmission has ever been serviced the car has 140,000K's. I will service the transmission myself and would like to fit a cooler at the same time.

I would like to fit it so it looks like a neat job. And am still looking into what cooler are available and diffrent size one's. Any one fitted one themself and where did you mount it of? Some coolers come with zip tie's and others come with metal plates l will try to fit it myself so it looks like a professional job.

my bf has a small unit mounted off the block, still uses coolant lines but it's a seperate unit. i'm not sure how efficient it is but it seems to do the job. made by ktm apparently.

Its a fairly easy job, just need to redirect the trans lines after the cooler is mounted and top it up then

Is a fairly simple install. Ebay have PWR kits for about $160 with full instructions on how to install it. You can either bypass the traanny and use the cooler by itself or run it parrallel with trans. i just made up a bracket and mounted it off that.
