Ill be starting to prepare my car for its respray soon. The car has been sprayed in the past so it has the stock paint then the aftermarket paint, and i want to take it back to metal so i wont have problems in the future due to the layers of paint. I have been considering paint stripper as i know its very effective but also very messy. Jus wondering what other people reccomend.

you think about getting the car Bead Blastered / sand blastered
easy way to get bare metal

paint stripper is the way to go its far more kind on the wallet than getting the car sand blastered, just be sure to mask everything up and u wont have any problems. another sugestion is to take the panels off the car and paint strip them.

I have always avoided stripper as if you miss getting a bit off it creates all sorts of problems.
I have been using special non abrasive sanding pads on a drill or angle grinder, very effective. They kind of look like a scotch brite scouring pad, but come in various grades, and leave the metal underbeath smooth. I have pruchased mine from K Mart but i am sure many other places have them |

i was thinking of sanding it back as i know it is a lot easier/ cleaner then strippers, but i have the current coat+ the standard coat on there and i think it will just take too long/ use too many pads. I have had experiances with both forms and i dont like either of them!! sanding blasting ive heard is very good and effective, but i dont think my wallet can stretch that far. as for the cost of the spray job, i have some connections in the business, so im not sure yet, i am doing all the prep work myself, so basically it will be a stripped car both inside and out, with an undercoat ready to whack some paint on it, then its all the fun putting it all back together again.
