i think i have mad a big mistake i just ordered a set of 3inch lower blocks for my 1994 ford falcon xg ute and i was just reading some where that using a 2inch lowering block the tailshaft may hit the floor wtf? so if i lowerer it 3 inches it will bottom out all the time? someone please answer

i have a ef xr6 wagon with 2 in lowering blocks under rear and have had the tailshaft hit the floor but that was 'cos the bump stop above the diff was no good. have since replaced that so physically impossible for tailshaft to hit. when loaded up there is virtually no gap between the bump stop and rear uni so bump stop gets a real work out. prolly have to keep replacing it but i consider that a small price to pay for a nice ride height.

i was also thinking the bumper stops would prevent the shaft from hitting the floor. maybe invest in some heavier springs or an extra leaf....

one more thought is that if you notice any deep vibrations from the rear of the car after lowering it over 80km/h it may be incorrect pinion angle. its possible to wedge the rear of the diff tilting it forward to correct the pionion angle, this will also lower the driveshaft slightly.
