hi dont know if this has been posted before or not but was wondering if the console can just be lifted enough to get a pair of scissors in to slice accross the carpet by the gear stick area to get the old carpet off without having to take the auto lever off to get the console off.

can you just cut across the new carpets where the gear stick is and slide it in so you only have to lift the console to get the carpet under and cover the cut up after.

will decent nc2, nf, nl, ef,el ford/ fairlane carpet fit a ed

No, you can't lift up the carpe, or lay the new one withour completely removing the console, which requires you to remove the gear knob. It just unscrews after you loosen the big nut off.

Long wheelbase carpets from Fairlanes and LTDs will NOT fit a short wheel base car. A wagon carpet will fit.

If you are still going to use the ED console, you can't use a carpet from an EF/EL as they are very different.

Just loosen the bottom nut on the bottom of the knob, then unscrew the whole thing until it comes off the shaft. Count the number of turns if you want to be pedantic.

JUST DO IT!!!!!

Then when you put it back on test if the button will allow the lever to move through the gears successfully.

Go out and by a Gregorys PLEASE!!!!!!

All these sort of questions, are answered in a manual.

if your tryin to replace the carpet is much easier to remove the seats and center console, taking off and putting the gearknob back on does not do any damage, neither will removing the power window switches as long as you dont cut wires. hope that answers your question
