it will be more cost effective if you get some headers and a good exhaust system put in, then a more agressive cam, etc.... porting should be done later on with engine mods. and welcome to FordMods mate.

If you want to and can get it done for a good price, id go for it. Probably wont make much of a difference but a bit more flow on a near stock engine though, but start working it and it'll prove usefull, the insides of the BBM are quite rough, its got heaps of dags and s**t that would obstruct flow a bit.
I might be having a go at doing a little cleaning up of the top half of my BBM sometime this week. Got the week off so gonna sand back and polish the outside of the BBM, may as well have a bit of a go smoothing things out on the inside while im at it. Will get around to doing the bottom half if i have time lol |

the gasket between the head and manifolf often protrudes over the ports-it did a fair wack on my EF. its worth trimming it to size. I machined the inside of my bbm and used a BA falcon induction setup. all togther its fair responsive.

SORRY TO INTERUPT LADIES, but anyway back on topic.
I machined out a BBM so the runner system no loger existed, my results were a car that was a dog off the mark and it made a small gain at top end.. it gained 7 rwkw at top end, but lost over 100 nm of torque down low... i lost 0.2 down the 1/4 mile, so no not worth it... after that i smoothed out the inside of a standard BBM, i didnt feel any noticable difference, but in the end smoother flow is better flow... so id say just smooth out all the casting marks and on both halves of the BBM and thats as good as you wil get

After actually looking at the BBM internals quite a bit this week, i would concur 100% with FAST-XR. The only thing i would really do (which is what im doing now) is smoothing out the runners, removing as many burrs and casting marks as possible and smoothing out the entrance into the BBM. The runners which lead into the butterflies on the top half have a bit of a step running down the centre in the middle of each runner, so ive basically made that flat and got as far as i could get into the runners making it smooth. Id hate to pay someone to do the job lol, its a b**ch getting some of those burrs out, on my BBM there is a huge step in the gap in each runner which i had to file at for a while to get it anywhere near smooth. Ive got this far so far, finishing it off right now lol
Left side has been done in this pic, you can kinda see the step in the middle of the runners which is what i was on about, on the other side |

fast xr seems on the money..
was there to see how disapointed fast xr was with the results after all those hours spent on it.. _there would be many other mods i would do 1st before attempting this mod.. |

I cut strips of sand paper and 'flossed' the top intake runners, feed it through and pull it back and fourth, that will at least smooth one face of the top runners...
as for the bottom half, i put a flapper wheel on a flexible shaft and used a drill to get up into the runners, they are a pain as they are not straight and hard to get into... the entries around the butterfles themselves can also do will smoothing out as they have a rough sand blasted finish..
