my 05 turbo ute has been running really rich and idling rough ever since driving it home from work this arvo. it started doing it after i had parked it for about an hour and the first time i tried to start it, it blew a whole lotta black smoke and idling really rough and it eventually stalled. after further investigation i noticed a "ticking" noise coming from the boost solenoid that sits under the fuse box in the engine bay. i pulled it out and gave it a bit of a blast with WD40 and reinstalled it. the ticking has gone away but it still runs as rough as before and it wont even start anymore and if it does its pretty ugly. this has never happened before either. it does run a redcliffe dyno performance piggy back ecm but i dont think that would be causing it.
would i have to buy a new boost solenoid to fix this problem? or would some thing else be causing this? im really after a quick fix because i have been planning to take the ute down to the townsville 400 this weekend and its really frustrating for this to happen the day before i planned to leave. any help would be appreciated. cheers |

Had you been thrashing it prior to shutdown? Boost solenoid shouldnt cause any ticking noise, unless it malfunctioned and caused a boost spike that damaged the motor. I wouldnt of sprayed anything inside it. Checked oil levels? Do you think its running on 6 cyls? All the best

My T has done this before, I was driving then all of a sudden it ran like s**t then stalled. And when i re-started it it would blow heaps of black smoke and not idle(stall) unles i got on the throttle.
Soooo to fix it i re-set the throttle. very easy process. 1 - turn ignition on 2 - put foot on the throttle flat to the floor 3 - crank the engine for a few seconds (car will not try to start when the throttle is depressed) 4 - stop cranking then take foot of the throttle and shut down the car. 5 - turn car on and if it was the throttle every thing should now be fine! I did this and everything was fine after i did it, just a suggestion...

My car is heaps smoother and if im not imagining things it feels like it has a few extra killer wasps. Thanks mr kiss.
