Well the trans finally went in the EB2 Fairmonty  , whilst mum was driving to top it off. I have a wrecked EF2 fairmont ghia 6 in the garage, was wondering if the trans from that can mate up to the V8 Eb monty?? Sugestions thanks.

Unfortunately, the six trans does not bolt up, nor do I know of anyone modifying one to fit.

You will need to source a V8 trans or get yours rebuilt.

Bugger :x . Rebuild on the cards then, the mighty diesel turbo Esky comes out of retirement again ha-ha. Ye old faithful, rattles and all. What’s the cost to get recos done on transmissions these days?? Would it be a safer bet to get the existing one overhauled, than swap fir a surprise pack??

its a "safer bet" yes, but depends how far you want to go with the rebuild. A repair to keep it running might be $600, a reco without solenoids $1000, and rebuild inc solenoids $1500+ all depending who you go through.

or a used trans $200, plus fitment

I got my trans recoed 2 weeks ago. Cost me $800 trade (cash) no solenoids. I bought the s5 solenoid because they told me it is a common solenoid that goes. I also bought a 2500 stallie aswell.
I did all the labour my self. Expect to buy 10L of TQ95 trans oil. I paid approx. $1600 trade in total with stallie, s5 solenoid & fluid.
Very happy with the trans. :D just have to get used to the stallie. :o

I have done the ring around, and have had qoutes up to 2k full over haul, also mentioned was the converter should be reco'd also?? does this make sense, the Mont only done 130km's. Saying that whats the advantages of a higher stall??
