If its manual, it will most likely a 3.45:1
If its auto, It would be a 3.27:1

Hope this helps.

Laticia.

Wrong. All XR6's got 3.45's. 3.27 was manual XR8.

Last EL XR6 auto I rebuilt the Diff in was a 3.27:1 Seen quite a lot of them come though work.

Remember, a sedan diff won't bolt into a Wagon.

Yes, it will fit.

However, this is not what I consider to be a Backyard DIY job.

There are special tools and equipment, not to mention skills, needed to remove, install and setup a diff centre correctly.

A number have tried, most have found in a couple of months the diff is whining and is noisy. Without setting the correct backlash etc, and not being able to reco the LSD centre, I believe it is a waste of time and money.

If however, you are prepared to take both diffs to a specialist and pay them to swap the centre into your wagon diff, reco and tighten the centre etc, then this will give you a good reliable performance oriented diff.

This option is not what I call a cheap mod, and will set you back at least $700.
