My EL is giving me the s**t, so i'm currently looking to join the Barra 240T club...finance dependant.

And in a couple of weeks time, ill probably have $1000 to play with spending money....
so what are the typical mods people do with their xr6t ?

i've haven't owned a turbo car before, so would like to know what i can do for my thousand ?
any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated!

you can get a generic tune for well less than a grand. have a look on www.capa.com.au
just plug in and go nuts. im pretty sure they run the factory tune, a 8 psi boost setting and a 10psi boost setting.
maybe with the rest, add the second typhoon snorkle to the airbox, and get a decent airfilter.

down the track you could look at an exhaust system, start by replacing the cat and the center muffler with something more flowing.
then you can look at changing the intercooler to something bigger,
then add bigger injectors and fuel pump and you'll be seeing around 300rwkw.

very cheap cars to mod.
im about to buy one to :D very excited

redo the cooler piping and bigger exhaust,

If money permits, then get a tune.

First thing I did was to get a stage 1 tune, kept me happy for a while, then came bigger cooler and pipes with a decent BOV.
I then went full 3" exhaust with a 4" Cat.
Next came 42lb Injectors, underdrive pulley and custom tune on the dyno.
Best advice would be to save up approx $5k and get it all done in one go to save money on having to get it re-tuned more than once. I dont use a CAPA box or what ever other items there are though to hold more than one tune so this could be another way of doing it.
Or better yer, find a car thats already had this work done and save yourself some more coin. Just make sure it isn't about to self implode.

Dude you may find you will be happy with the car as it is when you first get it. They are pretty quick stock.
As an example on a nice cold night my car in performance mode can chirp seconds. It was put on a dyno a few months back and was pushing out 201 killer wasps. That was before i put in the K&N and the fuel in it was half 95 and 98 octane. (mixed petrol in the tank).
Personally i reckon you could put that grand toward some nice rims. :D

The main difference is obviously the power difference and probably a wise idea to let them cool down a little before you turn them off although the manual does not mention anything about this.

i bought a BF recently and plan to throw around 2k at it in the new year...

so far ive done all the easy stuff before i pump the jam...

so far:
typhoon intake $80 (or cut big hole out for free 8-) )
filter $80
remove center muffler $150
typhoon cooler $200
under battery pipe $120
to do:
60lb injectors $450
second hand flash 2 $450
fuel pump $150
custom tune $500

that should see 300rwkw and some lazy 12s...

6speed auto, mid to high 13.
4speed auto, high 13 to low 14
manual depends on who's driving.

ive had my 245kw BF XR6 MK11 T for around 9 months now.. is even now over the 100,000 km warranty.. but when its faster than most things on the street i feel no need to make her any quicker yet..

13.3's are fast enough.. i have got her clean/low looking.. with nice rims and dual exhausts..

Fair enough, I went from an EF11 XR8 to this and lasted 12 months before I went stage 1! Then another 12 before I went to where it is now. Go for a drive in big HP turbo falc. You'll love it.
