hi all, i just recently bought a ef short motor, so pretty much the whole engine without tha head and i am planning to re-build it with my dad and am wondering if you guys have some tips for me to make it a good, strong fairly powerfull engine Thanks heaps
Ps. am planning to put it in my ef falcon.

you dont need cams or tunes or anything fancy like that yet. they can be added later easily.
get the head ported a little and get it shaved and squared. that way if you want to upgrade you wont need to off the head again. AU head gasket with E series head bolts is the go, many threads about it. Just follow all the procedures in the manual for clearences on pistons and such and you'll be right. This is unless you want to go forged, in which case its a lot of money and research your up for. good luck with it all, and post it all up! (ps whats with all the 17 y.o.'s on here lately?)

Thanks for that . was thinking of putting an au head on it cause ive heard its possible and they dont corrode or something like that lol.
Umm i dont know why, this is the first time ive been on here since last year. shouldnt be any prob with 17 yr olds on here tho.

no rules against it, i'd encourage it actually. just seem to be a lot of you guys around of late.
AU heads are a pain as cam selection down the track becomes limited. the rocker ratios are different. As long as good coolant and inhibitor are used there should be no reason the thing should rust.
