What are your preferred battery terminals made of?

My choices would be
1) GOLD (best conductivity but expensive) 2) Copper (best conductivity and great price and common) 3) Aluminum (cheaper than copper so you can buy alot)

maca_404 wrote: That's awesome, Where did you get such a thick chunk of copper ? Its copper busbar. If you went to an industrial electrical panelbuilder, I'm sure they would help you out. In Perth try Kounis Switchboards, or Tanis. I think ABB in Sydney build a lot of switchboards too. You wouldn't want to buy a whole length of bus, they cost several hundreds, and probably in the thousands for a length 6mm think. peaandham wrote: Gonadman2 wrote: I made mine out of copper. You could make it even cooler, Insulate the terminal from the copper so that the thick nut and washer is the only thing electrical linking the two, Then when you need to remove power to your car for repairs or what have you just undo the big nut and washer and then there will be no power, be an easy security thing to do as well if you leave the car for a bit just take off the one nut.

I'll look into it guys, but I'm away for the next couple of weeks on a course.
I will investigate further, the parts that I made were a bit of a one off though. |
