had problem with my car had ford play with it broke down around the corner ,2 auto electrian,still run like a pig ,its a 93 5lt supuer charged gt ,taught i give it a go myself got onto this site reading up on things got my car idiling beter through the tps ,idiling beter then ever ,still had a real bad dead spot right through the revs ,moved the base timing ,finially had a look at the air flow sensor found one wire covered in s**t so i cleaned it with wd and a cotton bud then a coton bud soaked in soapy water ,then a cotton bud with just water ,put her back together ,now shes cracking a again all i worried about now is the coppers after my test drive ,go the fords

There is cleaning spray specifically for cleaning maf sensors, or you can use electrical contact cleaner.

Dude, don't buy anything from NZ unless it's cheap, people here are rip off artists, get onto eBay and grab one, theres always a couple around. Ranging from 100-180+ I recently picked up one for 140, came with IAT sensor, air box lid and intake tube. so that was sweet, but yeah, you usually just see the maf body by it self, or with elecs in it for $160. |

Is it possible to tune without the MAF, are there MAFLESS tune options?
The Ford MAF seems to be more reliable than many GM type MAFs of about the same age

MAFless tuning is not possible and you're right the Hitachi MAF that Ford uses is very reliable and fast compared to GM frequency output MAF's. There are so many sizes available that getting rid of it is a non-issue, just size it to suit your engine.
