I know this is going to sound funny, but I work in the industry and from all the specs the best coolant you could possibly use is the 4L concentrate supplied by Holden

Distilled water + Redline water wetter. Plus a little bit of coolant to stop s**t growing in the pipes. I tested this on my Yamaha R1 as it has a digital temp gauge. Found it to be around 25-30C cooler than the old brown stuff that was originally in there, and is about 5C cooler than 50/50. So I use it in the car now. Works a treat!

OMG, the idea of coolant isn't necessarily to keep your engine cool, it's more to stop the head, pipes and other parts from corroding. If you're using anything that they sell in woolies or Kmart, ie Nulon you'll sure to be replacing your head sooner rather than later.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Nulon, my next coolant change, when I can be bothered to do so, will be changed with Nulon 100% mixed with distilled water at 50/50. Also it is better to run coolant to keep the engine cooler, especially through summer. Currently I am running just distilled water because there is a leak somewhere which I am too lazy to fix.

ive been using the nulon concentrate for a few years now and havnt had any corosion issues..
i used to use the genuine motorcraft and found that it was more corosive than the nulon..lol aslong as the cooling system is flushed every 18 to 24 months there shouldnt be to many problems. its when the coolant is not mixed right or is left in for too long is when you really start to get corosion problems |
