hi guys and girls, longtime since i posted here.
i have an ef falcon wagon and it has developed a few problems and now i need to get it all good again the car is a 1994 ef wagon with cross drilled and slotted rotors, other than that its all stock. the first problem is the passenger side is sagging so much that the mudflaps are scraping heaps under normal driving situations, and i was told the front was replaced about a year ago. secondly when i put my foot on the brake, i get a shudder through the steering wheel (above 40km/h) i had the wheels balanced, rotors were checked for warpage, hubs are tight, and bearings are not worn. third problem is the engine is leaking oil, when you look under the car, the drips are around the k frame? (x member) could it definitely be the rear main seal or is there another spot it could be from? i've searched for some answers but couldn't find what i was after any help will be greatly appreciated marty |

might be best to get the brakes done by a brake and clutch place. slot and x drills are strange creatures. cracking and glazzing can be common. bleed the brakes, full fluid change, check the pads for glazing and check all ball joints

got the report today about the car
bump stops are missing (when i bought the car it had them on, i guess they fell off) lower ball joint is badly worn (kinda knew that was coming) upper ball joint also needs replacing upper control arm& inner bushes, need replacing radius rods & bushes, worn causing excessive movement front suspension is soft, they recommend replacing it (they're only 15 months old) leaf spring bushes & U bolts are worn and the rear shocks are soft, need replacing to do that work, they were asking for $2500 including labour so i will be getting the parts myself and getting mates to help me with it. first thing to do will be upper and lower ball joints, is it hard to do? |

went to the local wreckers today and got the spindle assembly (40 bucks, i thought that was pretty good) and already have the lower ball joints out from them, getting the upper ball joints taken out tomorrow (was thinking pedders, if i cant find anywhere else) then get them to put the new ones in. then next weekend getting the upper control arms done in the backyard, but the lower ones i will get someone else to do, they appear to be a major p.i.t.a.
and hopefully that will also fix my brake shudder thank you everyone for your help |
