so i am throwing up between a wade 1673, a camtech stage 2, and a CMS stage 2
any feedback on pros and cons? in particular i would like to know more about wade and whether they require a vernier gear for successful dialling in and propper running. pretty much for CMS 2 I am looking at $550 installed cam/shims/vernier gear camtech is $423.50 supplied plus extra 100 or so for fitting so about same price as CMS (no vernier gear or shims needed) wade is about $150 plus $70 or so for shims, plus 100 or so for install. Thats 320 but unsure if need vernier gear as well. So what are the opinions on performance/reliability/value for money. The car has an ef XR motor and the only mods are a full exhaust. And it is manual. Also has lpg but will be looking to go GRA carb in near future after cam goes in. Cheers |

Cant say much about the others but i have a wade 1671 (AU version of the 1673) and its a great cam, pulls very strong from 3000rpm an up. I made 154rwkw with that cam in my car. I have also heards good things with the CMS cams.

gezza i assume the 1502 you have for sale is bigger than the cam you have now, did you end up fitting it, was it better than current cam?

you can also save that extra $70 if you go out to pic n payless and pull out a set of shims from a ef rocker set up..as a second set of std shims is all thats required no need to buy new ones..
probably only cost you $10 |

Na the 1502AU cam is the AU version of the 1636 cam which is pretty mild. The 1671 has a much better band of power and keeps pulling rather than starting to fade out at 4000-4500.

I have got the Wade 977B cam. I also have the adjustable vernier gear & it's set to std.
Alot of cam grinder grind there cams advanced 1 or 2 degrees anyway. Wade Cams have a good range also do CMS & Camtech. It all boils down to what cam specs your looking for, RPM rang, engine combo & most of all the best bang for bucks. Keith at Wade Cams, Joe at CMS or Malcum at Camtech any of them will help you & guid you. Any of these brand are top of the line, you can't go wrong. By the way my car made 147rwkw & 410 rwnm VERY HAPPY.

I had a CMS stage 3, car was running low 14s so i cant complain with that, the other thing you also have to weigh up is the support you get after its installed, i know that joe at crescent will run the car on the dyno, check it out, and will adjust the vernier untill he gets it dialled in perfectly and running as it should...
