Hi all,

This has probably been in addressed in previous topics already,
but none-the-less I'll post it anyway.

I'm getting engine noise coming through the speakers,
in time with engine revs, like a high pitched drone.

Are there filters you can get to reduse this?
If so are they effective?

Anyone else had this problem?

see below for installed audio equipment

Cheers,

JR

You have that noise because either something is faulty or the equipment isn't installed properly.

Make sure all grounds are good.
Make sure RCA's are kept away from power cables.

There is filters but they don't work 100%. You're better off fixing the problem rather than trying to hide it with a filter.

I've just installed the Top Gun (LPG) leads and now get this noise as well from the car speakers. Is this the norm with wire-wound leads? The advertising on the box says they've got excellent noise supression.

There wasn't any whining noise before with the Repco 'home brand' leads.

Remove the earth on your engine block and give it a good clean...might have a bad earth.

I had a whining noise on my old engine, when I pulled the engine out it had a really ugly/dirty earth. Replaced the engine with a rebuilt one and the earth was clean on the block and didn't have any issues after that.

OK, thanks for that. I've just put in a rebuilt motor too. I didn't pay too much attention to the surface condition on the earth lead & block during reassembly.
