Hi,
My friend just notice that all my brake lamps aren't working. I checked the blubs and fuse which seem ok. Could it be the brake pedal switch? Last edited by 6CYL on Tue Apr 05, 2005 10:45 pm, edited 2 times in total. |

yep; brake switch which is located on the brake pedal itself a bit under the dash - you can get them new from ford/repco/autobarn n so on for like 20-80 depending where you buy from; id recomend repco n then autobarn over ford tho, rip offs! lol
you should be able to diagnose the switch problem by moving the switch; it should activate the lights momentarily a bit - see how you go. Good luck.

Even if the switch works when you pull it out and test it, the pedal may not be pushing it in far enough. Thats what happened to mine. A new switch fixed the problem.

Had the same prob (pedal not pushing the switch far enough) I glued a shim which is about 0.3mm (use a feeler gauge blade) from memory onto the part of the switch that hits the pedal. Works a treat, no dramas and no cash outlay.

when you replace the switch, pull the front seat out. It takes about 2 minutes to do, but u need a speshul tork wrench thingy. (buy a set, 'cos u gonna need it for the door locks and other bits) It make the getting under the dash sooooo much easier for the effort of taking out the front seat.

I have never had to pull the seat out yet, and I've had my switch out 3 times. Takes no more than 5 minutes, and i do it from kneeling on the floor next to the car, with the door wide open.

yeah, but I'm too old and too fat. I seem to fit in easier if i take the seat out Plus I don't get dizzy lying upside down in the car
