Hi Guys here are some questions for the experts.
#1- Apart from the coil pack ignition are there any differences between a ef xr6 and a el xr6 engine?. #2- compared to the two above what are the differences between the ef-el fairmont ghia engines?. #3- Are there major differences in the Computers?. Lets just stick to automatic transmission vehicles Thankyou. |

Late ELs had the hybrid engine, which had AU components in it. There are probably some really minor differences, but nothing you would feel behind the wheel. EF1 Ghias did not have the Tickford engine, or drivetrain. EF11 did. The engines are the same as the XR ones, but had a slightly more restrictive exhaust from factory. The EF and EL computers are not interchangeable at all, due to the ignition system differences. As to the maps, there will be some minor differences, again due to the ignition and coilpacks. Some ppl like the coilpacks, and others prefer the dizzy. At least with a dizzy you can manually advance the timing. Hope that helps. BenJ
