Hi guys,
This is probably said if so can you link me the threads please. Or for quick answers: 1. What is needed to do this? (List all things parts etc i would need.) 2. Is it do-able? 3. Is it worth the time and money? 4. There is obviously performance gains, so what would i expect? Thanks All.

XR-Lane's NF VCT Fairlane conversion could give you an idea of what's needed.
I've been doing a bit of research myself, and what's needed so far with the engine is the oil sump needs to be modified so it doesn't interfere with the frame and will fit in the engine bay. Also, does the AU have to use an AU ECU or can it run on an EF ECU? If I'm lucky enough to find a VCT engine, does that need the ECU to go with it, or will an EF ECU work with it? I haven't been able to find anything clear on this, with the bell housing between the transmission and engine, does that need to be modified etc? Would it be productive (or possible) to replace the EF auto with an AU auto? |

Just in the process of preparing my AU donk to fit my NF Fairlane. XR_Lane's build thread is excellent as mentioned by Moustacha. A couple of things that I did different. I have cut my sump and have it at work for the welders to rework. I also fitted an EF alternator bracket (like XR-Lane) but drilled and tapped the original mounting holes in the side of the block. I'm using the NF ecu as my engine is non vct. Also bought an AU bellhousing for $30 to save some time. Will also use the AU ect and thermostat housing so a bit of wiring involved. Check out Krytox's photos of the cut AU sump. ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/au-sump-mod-for-e-series-t79648.html
