Has anyone done it? I thought of it a couple of weeks ago after seeing a VY SS with colour matched spats on it. Mine are f**k and need replacing, so I was thinking about getting another set of the Ford molded ones and cutting them down or find some that will fit from another car/make some and get the back side of them painted the colour of the car.

What do you guys think? I'm thinking along the lines of the fact I dont want a kit now (or ever maybe), so if I paint the spats they can protect the car from stonechips and not stand out like dogs balls at the same time. What do you think?

They look great colour coded How low is the car as the factory ones are fairly solid and easily scraped if the car is too low!!!

It makes the car's colour flow and seem uniform, yeah go for it.
I've done it with my ea, but the body is that goldy colour, and i painted the rear and front bumpers black, then did the same with the mud flaps.
800, 100, 1200 sand, primer, few layers of colour and clear on top.

Trust me bob....I know all about that. The car is 3" lowered and the current ones have torn and have rubbed (but thankfully not creased) the front qtr panels. So I'm getting them fixed up, and going to get them to paint the mudflaps at the same time. If I get more ford ones I will cut them so they wont scrape....I'll give them like an inch below the sill so that way they wont scrape/tear and shouldn't cause any problems. Otherwise I've seen some nice neat little spats on a R33 GTR that could work also.

I've seen it done, the paint started flaking off & it looked s**t. Maybe the guy didn't paint it properly, like using plastic primer, flex-aid etc.
