Does anyone now about the oil sumps of the EA to EL falcons? Do they interchange with each other? I can only assume that they do as 90% of the other "running" gear is interchangable.

Cheers Geoff

I know Benj was asking this a while ago I don't know if he got an answer.

I am very confident they are interchangable, reason being, I am building an ED block up at present, I have been advised by the guys on boosted to run either an EF or EL sump as they believe them to be a slightly better unit. I would think thet they would only suggest this if they have retro fitted newer series sumps onto older series motors. after all the botom and is the same, its just internals and head and bolt on ancillaries that change from series to series.

Hope this help Geoff..

Dave

This is exactly what I thought.. AFAIK it is the same block from EA to EL with only the 3.9Ls having a different internals from the 4Ls. (I may be wrong.)

Not quite. EF and EL blocks have better balanced cranks, and I believe are hollow to reduce weight when compared to the EB to early ED. Late ED had EF Blocks.

Yeah the sumps are interchangeable I am pritty sure I just put an ED sump on an EF had the sumps sitting next to each other couldn't see a difference. Only reason I put the ED one on was because it was clean was to lazy to clean the EF one
