DETROIT--Ford Motors is bringing global vehicles to North America for the Ford brand.
The redesigned models will begin arriving in 2010, when the Fiesta small car goes on sale. By the end of 2013, at least seven Ford brand nameplates will be on global platforms. Except for tweaks made for market-specific regulations or customer tastes, Ford has said the vehicles on those platforms will be the same from country to country. Common parts save money. Meanwhile, Ford has scrapped plans for large, rear-drive sedans for the Ford and Lincoln brands. The global platform had been assigned to Ford of Australia. {DESCRIPTION} |

It has meaning, the US Global RWD has been scrapped, and Ford Australia have been assigned the job(Global Large Car RWD Platform). This article was from yesterday (27th of July). There are going to be 7 world wide Ford nameplates by the end of 2013. The Falcon just recieved the ecoboost technology, US Ford think the Falcon is too good a car to get rid of.

I have started to get quite upset at the prospect of being totally unable to purchase a RWD Ford into the future. I mean really..... What sort of a joke would that be??

I think we are maybe reading this wrong; although I'm not quite sure what to make of it.

Yep. in this months Sm magazine there's a small write up on how the big 3 are fairing. The global RWD platform got canned. Looks like the only RWD cars coming from detroit are mustangs and F trucks. The Lincoln and Crown Vic replacements will be FWD.
